Anne Arundel County passes casino property tax relief bill, 5-2

Anne Arundel County Council approved legislation Monday night that would grant up to $36 million in property tax relief to a casino company in exchange that the company builds a larger convention center than originally planned.

The payment in lieu of taxes bill (PILOT) would have provided up to $1.2 million in property tax relief a year over 30 years to The Cordish Companies as it expands its Anne Arundel County portfolio with a new hotel and convention center adjacent to its Live Casino.
